Mimi K. Photo: Austin, TX; I was born and raised in Austin, Texas, and started taking photography classes as a high school freshman. I was fortunate that my high school had a state of the art darkroom and a well-versed instructor. In 2002, I attended the University of California at Santa Cruz, where I pursued a BA in Fine Art with an emphasis in photography. It was there I helped run both the Black and White and Color darkrooms. Upon graduating I took a year off to photograph my travels in the U.S. and abroad. After my year away from school, I decided it was time to return, to really fine tune my craft. Again, I moved west, this time to San Francisco, where in the fall of 2007 I began a master’s program at the Academy of Art University.
